painting with ice cubes

First, we had to freeze the water (with paint). We learned that water turns to ice when it is very very cold. When it is in the warm temperature, it melts back into water. If it gets really hot, for example in a tea kettle, or if the sun beats down on it, it evaporates- it turns into vapor/gas and travels up. We know that that is how clouds are formed.
It definitely was cool to paint with the ice and to see that after some time they shrunk and we were left with water colors-much colder that usual of course!!!
