To emphasis the difference between bread and Matzah (one being flat and the other having risen to a fluffy bread), we performed this experiment. We explained that yeast makes the bread dough rise. But how does this work we wondered? So: we placed and equal amount of warm water into 2 soda bottels. A spoon of sugar into both. One also got some yeast. Then we placed a balloon onto the lips of both bottles. We left it for a few hours. When we came back to check on the experiment, we were amazed to see that the balloon on top of the bottle with yeast was inflated! Now we can understand that yeast makes things rise and so it cannot be used on Pessach.
