Ice Food Experiment

Last week’s experiment helped give the class an idea why birds and other small animals hibernate or migrate during the winter. We used a pair of tweezers to simulate a bird’s beak as they tried to get food from a frozen ground.

Penguin Belly Slides

We spent all week learning about different kinds of penguins. We learned about Emperor penguins, Humboldt penguins, Chinstrap penguins, and Macaroni penguins. We even learned that some penguins live in warm places like South Africa and Australia! While we know that penguins cannot fly, they can swim and often use their bellies to slip across icy areas. Watch us doing belly slides of our own!
