discovering the wonder of the brain
our brain is our boss. It tells us what to do. When something hurts, nerves send messages to the brain which quickly responds with a message of what you should do. Ex. you touch fire, the message through the nerves reaches the brain. the brain tells you to quickly move.
we say a model of a person. the light bulb was his brain center. When a body part had something bothering it, the brain lit up.

Lung Activities
Party time
ONE HUDRED DAYS OF SCHOOL PARTY
wow, finally the big day!!!
For show and tell this week, we each brought in 100 of whatever item we wished. It was fsciniating to see that 100 looks different depending on the item. 100 sprinkles looks like a lot less than ten action figures... and 100 paper clips lookes smaller when it was in the box then when we made a long chain out of it.
Making an x-ray of our ribs
The ribs, like the skull protect delicate parts of our body. The rib cage makes certain that our heart and lungs wont get injured. The skull keeps our brain safe.
Also we learned that our bones are what make us be able to stand tall and straight. without them, we would look like a lump of playdough or jello. They are like the poles that hold up a tent.
Our Engine, Our Heart
our heart pumps blood- the river inside of us all. In this "river" there are boats- cells- that carry energy through out our body. The tunnels they flow through are called veins and arteries. The veins-blue hold the "dirty" blood that needs new oxygen. The arteries-red have fresh clean oxygen filled blood. When we excercise our heart pumps faster because we are using the enrgy more quickly. This too is the reason we breath quicker. We are using the oxygen ( in the blood) at a very rapid pace.
We saw how the heat pumps the blood into the arteries. Just like the balloon pushed the liquid up into the straw when it was squeezed, so to, our heart pumps blood by 'squeezing'.
