Counting & Sorting

After discussing how Avraham and Sarah left their home at Hashem’s command, we discussed how they would have been traveling. We know that they did not have cars like we do! This sparked a further discussion of different kinds of transportation vehicles. We were then curious about how many cars we had in our classroom. And sorting them by color made the task easier and also gave an opportunity to practice discretionary task skills, in which they are able to recognize differences and similarities in objects.

Hardware Store Provocation

In order to have a home we must have the right supplies! This week we acted as carpenters, construction workers, and contractors to build a town and fill furniture orders. We shopped for tools and learned about how to use some tools in real life.

We are creating a scene of a home. We began with sky background, using sponges to paint various blues, every child’s sky was unique. The next step was adding grass to the ground before adding a popsicle stick house. We have been discussing homes and other buildings all week. It has been so interesting having these discussions about where different people and animals can live. How animals are adapted to different kinds of homes and what materials people use to make different kinds of houses.
