We learned, that not only is the shofar an "alarm clock" to wake the Jewish people up to do lots of Mitzvot because our king, Hashem, is in the "fields" in this month; but also, a shofar is used as a trumpet. When a king comes out of his palace, he is led by trumpets announcing his arrival. We too greet our king with a trumpet= our shofar.
We had a royal marching band to welcome the king.
