We have spoke a lot about writing letters this week. So in order to understand how letters are mailed we got to play in a pretend post office. We made cards and placed stamps, sold packages and sealed envelopes. We were very industrious mail carriers.
By regularly engaging in dramatic play (aka make believe or imaginary play) children are developing their cognition and social skills. During dramatic play children are learning how to negotiate, cooperate, and navigate group dynamics. This kind of play can be an outlet for preschool students who typically do not have much control in real life situations. Dramatic play allows children to control the narrative and the outcome.
